What is Saturday Lotto?

Saturday Lotto is Australia's longest-running lottery, having held its first draw on 22 June 1972. Known by different names across the country — TattsLotto in Victoria, Tasmania and the NT; Gold Lotto in Queensland; Saturday X Lotto in South Australia — it is the same game with the same prize pool, all operated under The Lott brand.

Using a 6/45 format, players select 6 numbers from 1 to 45. Eight balls are drawn in total (6 main + 2 supplementary). With a minimum Division 1 jackpot of around $5–6 million, a Superdraw jackpot of $20 million several times per year, and excellent overall odds of 1 in 42, Saturday Lotto remains the most widely played lottery in Australia.

🏆 Australia's Saturday Tradition: Saturday Lotto was the first lottery in Australia where players could choose their own numbers. In 2017 alone it created over 148 millionaires across the country!

Superdraws & Megadraws

🌟 Superdraw — $20 Million Jackpot!

Several times a year, Saturday Lotto runs a Superdraw where the Division 1 prize pool is boosted to $20 million. Superdraws occur approximately every 5–6 weeks and are enormously popular. Check The Lott website for the next Superdraw date.

💥 Megadraw — $30 Million+ Jackpot!

Less frequent than Superdraws, Megadraws push the Division 1 prize to $30 million or beyond. These are special events that attract millions of additional entries. Lower division prizes remain similar to regular draws during both Superdraws and Megadraws.

💡 Note: Division 2–6 prize amounts in Superdraws and Megadraws are generally unaffected by the boosted jackpot. Only Division 1 receives the enhanced prize pool.

📋
Jackpot, Rollover & Prize Rules
  • Standard minimum Division 1 jackpot is approximately $5–6 million per draw
  • If Division 1 is not won, the prize doubles and rolls over to the following Saturday
  • Saturday Lotto Division 1 rolls over to at least $12 million if not won in a standard week
  • Division 1 can be jackpotted up to four times in succession
  • Multiple Division 1 winners share the prize pool equally between them
  • Division 1 has no jackpot cap — it keeps growing until won
  • All Saturday Lotto winnings are 100% tax-free in Australia
ℹ️ Important: Unlike Powerball, all Saturday Lotto balls are drawn from a single barrel of 45. The first 6 drawn are the main numbers; the next 2 are supplementary. There is no separate barrel.
