Oz Lotto: Official Guide, Rules, Odds & How to Play
Australia's national Tuesday night lottery — drawn every week since 1994
Draws every Tuesday evening at approximately 8:30 PM AEST
Oz Lotto is Australia's national Tuesday night lottery, launched in February 1994 as the country's first fully nationwide lottery game. Operated under The Lott brand across all states and territories, it gives Australians a chance to win life-changing jackpots every week without exception.
The game uses a 7/47 format — players pick 7 numbers from 1 to 47. In each draw, 10 balls are selected (7 main + 3 supplementary). With a guaranteed minimum Division 1 prize pool of $4 million every Tuesday and a record jackpot history exceeding $111 million, Oz Lotto remains one of Australia's most trusted lotteries.

Standard entries cost $1.50 per game. System entries (8–20 numbers) give more combinations for better coverage across multiple divisions.

Claim Your Prize
Match 3 main numbers + 1 supplementary or better to win. Online prizes are deposited automatically. In-store prizes up to $750 can be claimed at any lottery retailer; larger prizes require a lottery office visit.
Oz Lotto offers 7 prize divisions. You need to match a minimum of 3 main numbers + 1 supplementary to win any prize. Odds are based on 1 standard game:
| Division | Winning Numbers | Odds (per game) | Prize |
|---|---|---|---|
| Div 1 | 7 main numbers | 1 in 62,891,499 | Jackpot — min $4 Million |
| Div 2 | 6 main + 1 supplementary | 1 in 2,994,834 | Pari-mutuel share (~$50K–$500K+) |
| Div 3 | 6 main numbers | 1 in 242,825 | Pari-mutuel share (~$3,000–$10,000) |
| Div 4 | 5 main + 1 supplementary | 1 in 26,271 | Pari-mutuel share (~$300–$500) |
| Div 5 | 5 main numbers | 1 in 4,497 | Pari-mutuel share (~$40–$80) |
| Div 6 | 4 main numbers | 1 in 182 | Pari-mutuel share (~$20–$40) |
| Div 7 | 3 main + 1 supplementary | 1 in 71 | Pari-mutuel share (~$10–$20) |
In every Oz Lotto draw, 10 balls are drawn in total from a barrel of 47:
- The first 7 balls are the main winning numbers
- The next 3 balls are supplementary numbers, drawn from the remaining 40 balls
Supplementary numbers apply to Divisions 2, 4, and 7 only. They do not affect Division 1 — you must match all 7 main numbers for the jackpot. They act as bonus balls that boost your prize potential in lower divisions.
