What is SuperEnalotto?

SuperEnalotto is Italy's flagship national lottery and one of the most famous — and most challenging — lotteries in the world. Operated by Sisal under a licence from Agenzia delle Dogane e dei Monopoli, it uses a 6/90 format — the largest main ball pool of any major lottery on Earth.

Because the ball pool contains 90 numbers, the jackpot odds are an astronomical 1 in 622,614,630 — by far the worst jackpot odds of any major lottery. This means SuperEnalotto jackpots can roll over for months or even years, growing to extraordinary levels. The largest-ever jackpot was €371.1 million in August 2023 — the largest lottery jackpot in world history at the time.

💡 World Record Jackpot: SuperEnalotto produced the world's largest lottery jackpot ever recorded — €371.1 million (approximately AUD $600M) — won on 22 August 2023 by a single ticket purchased in Montappone, Italy, after 90 draws without a winner.

How to Play SuperEnalotto — Step by Step
1

Choose Your 6 Numbers

Select 6 numbers from the enormous pool of 1 to 90. With 90 numbers available, the frequency and skip analysis tools on SmartLotto are particularly valuable for identifying patterns within this large pool.

2

Choose Your Entry Type

Select a standard entry (6 numbers) or a SuperStar add-on for extra prizes. System entries selecting more numbers are also available.

3

Choose Number of Draws

Select a single draw or advance entries. Three draws per week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday) offer regular opportunities.

4

Purchase Your Ticket

Available at any authorised Italian lottery retailer (Ricevitoria), the official Sisal website, or via authorised international lottery concierge services for Australian players.

5

Watch the Draw — Tue, Thu & Saturday

Draws take place at 8:00 PM CET (Rome) on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. Numbers are drawn from six regional lotto wheels (Bari, Florence, Milan, Naples, Palermo, Rome, Turin, Venice) plus one national wheel.

6

Claim Your Prize

Lower division prizes paid at any authorised lottery retailer. Larger prizes require a claim at a Sisal claims centre. All prizes paid as a lump sum — note Italian prizes are subject to a 20% withholding tax.

🌏 Playing from Australia: SuperEnalotto is available to Australian players via authorised lottery concierge services. SmartLotto tracks all draws and provides predictions, statistics and results for Australian players.
🎯
The Jolly Number & SuperStar Add-On

SuperEnalotto draws one additional number called the Jolly from the remaining balls after the main 6 have been drawn. The Jolly applies only to Division 2 — it upgrades a 5-number match to Division 2 if the Jolly also matches.

SuperStar Add-On: For an extra €0.50, players can add a SuperStar number (1–90) to their ticket. If the SuperStar matches one of the drawn numbers, it multiplies prizes across all divisions and can add up to €2M to any winning prize. SuperStar significantly improves the value-to-cost ratio of a SuperEnalotto ticket.

🎯 90-Ball Pool Strategy: With 90 balls in the pool, SuperEnalotto has the richest frequency and skip data of any lottery on SmartLotto. The Cherry Pick Engine and pre-draw state analysis are particularly powerful tools for a 6/90 game — patterns take longer to emerge but are statistically stronger when they do.
💰
Prize Divisions & Odds

SuperEnalotto has 6 main prize divisions plus SuperStar bonus prizes. The jackpot (Division 1) has no cap and rolls indefinitely — enabling the world record €371M prize. Division 5 (match 2) is a fixed €5 prize.

📊 Jackpot Scale

Typical Large Rollover

World Record — Aug 2023
€371.1M
  • SuperEnalotto has no jackpot cap — the jackpot can grow without limit
  • Starting jackpot is typically around €2 million
  • With three draws per week and 1-in-622M odds, jackpots can grow for months or years
  • The world record jackpot of €371.1 million (AUD ~$600M) was won in August 2023
  • Italian winners pay a 20% withholding tax on prizes — unlike UK/Irish lottery wins
  • International winners receive prizes net of applicable tax via their authorised concierge operator
💰 Uncapped Jackpot Advantage: SuperEnalotto is the only major lottery with no jackpot cap. While the 1-in-622M odds make jackpot wins extremely rare, the uncapped rollover mechanism means that when a jackpot is eventually won, it can be the largest in world history — as demonstrated by the €371.1M 2023 record.

Record Jackpots & Notable Draws
🏆

August 2023 — €371.1M World Record Jackpot

On 22 August 2023, SuperEnalotto produced the largest lottery jackpot ever won in history — €371.1 million, won by a single ticket purchased in Montappone, a village of just 1,200 people in the Marche region of Italy. The jackpot had rolled over through 90 consecutive draws without a winner — a streak of approximately 5 months.

  • €371.1M (August 2023) — largest lottery jackpot in world history
  • Previous record of €209.1M (August 2019) was also held by SuperEnalotto
  • Jackpot rolled over 90 consecutive draws before the 2023 winner
  • Three draws per week means jackpots can grow rapidly during extended rollover streaks
  • SmartLotto tracks SuperEnalotto's full draw history and jackpot growth trajectory
📅 Italian Lotto vs SuperEnalotto: Italy also runs the traditional Lotto (a different game using 5/90 format drawn every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday). SuperEnalotto is separate and uses a dedicated 6-from-90 draw. SmartLotto covers both games.
🎮
